Ashley was back on the island for a month and we decided to do a shoot. We originally chatted about doing a topless mermaid shoot inspired by a drawing that Ashley had found. Long story short, we couldn't get a mermaid tail, so Ashley opened up to me and suggested this shoot. This is Ashley's story and I'll let her tell it from here on.
"It was a big step to do this shoot because I had never revealed my patches to anyone apart from close family and friends. But recently I've realised that vitiligo is a part of me and my natural beauty.
I am aware that there are many people in Bermuda with this pigmentation condition, so doing this photoshoot was a confidence boost for me, but mainly it was to inspire and encourage other people with vitiligo to be comfortable in their own skin. The main idea was to highlight and focus on the most affected areas on my body.
If you love yourself that's what you will portray, what anyone else thinks after that really doesn't matter!
