Sophie and Tyra's Studio Shoot

This shoot with Sophie and Tyra was done at the end of July.
Unfortunately August has been busy with non photo related stuff so I'm about a month behind and have a backlog of shoots to edit.   The aim of this shoot was to attempt to recreate images in the style you might find in model portfolios at one of the big modeling agencies.   Those images have an aesthetic that is different from mine so the challenge was to try and figure out whether it was lighting or post.

Unfortunately I dont think I really accomplished the looks that I was going for, especially with the Black and White images.    These still look and feel like they're my work.  So I'm going to have to continue to research and experiment to try and figure out how to accomplish the look I was going for.   Having said that I still like the images.  So its not like the shoot was a failure.

Models:  Sophie Adams and Tyra Burgess
MUA:    Maria Debraga
Location: whitespace* studio

Beauty Set

For the colour beauty shots I used the 33.5" beauty dish and 3'x2' reflector, with the beauty dish being directly above the camera.

Canon 5D mk iii and 70-200 F2.8
Exposure: F11
Focal length 200mm

For the Black and White set the exposure was around F14 and the beauty dish placed to camera left to create a hard contrast and shadowing.

Alshante Foggo Collection

I asked Alshante if we could use some of her recent collection for the shoot and she kindly offered to come to the shoot and style the following looks for us.

Canon 5D mk iii and 24-105 F4
Exposure: F9
Focal length: Between 40mm and 105mm

Lighting:
5ft Octa straight on
6' x 1' Strip for rim, back right
barn doors on the backdrop

Sporty Set

Tyra had to leave shortly after shooting Alshante's collection so the remainder of the shoot was just Sophie.

The lighting for the following images was similar to the swimsuit set above.

Canon 5D mk iii and 24-105 F4
Exposure: F11
Focal length: Between 50mm and 100mm

Lighting:
5ft Octa straight on
6' x 1' Strip for rim, back right
barn doors on the backdrop

Glamour Set

The final set was shot with a ring flash instead of the octa.  Every shot had serious Red Eye which I removed with the Red Eye tool in Light Room.

Focal length: Between 60mm and 105mm
