Studio shoot with Alize

I'd had Alize on my "models I want to shoot" list of a while, so when I booked the studio to shoot Josie I decided to double up and shoot Alize as well.  We came up with two very different concepts and rather than posting them in two separate blog posts I'm going to combine them in this one post.  The first was a sportswear shoot with the intention of capturing Alize's beautiful  lean figure and long legs.  The second concept was a colourful beauty shoot giving Maria the opportunity to go little crazy. We ended the beauty shoot with a bit of a bondage theme :D

Josie's first studio shoot

This is another shoot from August.  I did so many shoots during the summertime that I'm still working through the backlog.  I have one more to go.
I first met Josie at the 2013 photographer/model meet and greet where we did a quick test shoot.  At the end of that day I made a short list of six new faces that I wanted to shoot in the future, Josie obviously was one of them.   Fast forward to the 2014 and I was now working a lot with Maria, I mentioned Josie to her and I'd totally missed the DeBraga connection, Maria informs me that Josie is her cousin.

Studio shoot with Karissa

I first shot with Karissa in May when she was one of the five models that took part in the London Calling shoot.  I loved the way she photographed and asked her if she was interested in doing another shoot toward the end of the summer.   I had whitespace studio booked for a morning in August, so I doubled up and shot Tiara's shoes shoot and this shoot with Karissa in the same session.  It was a quick shoot lasting less than an hour.  We kept the concept as a simple sexy jeans shoot.  Maria did the make-up.

Tiara Style

I did this shoot with Tiara during my stay-cation week in mid-August.  When discussing possible concepts Tiara suggested that she style a shoot based around a collection of shoes that she owns.  She used her own eclectic wardrobe to come up with all these weird and wonderful looks.
We did the shoot at whitespace* studio and Maria did the make-up.

As the sun goes down with Rochelle

Rochelle contacted me several months ago and mentioned that she would be home for several weeks around cup match and wanted to shoot.  Its been a couple of years since we have shot together, although last year I shot her windows collection but she was the designer and stylist on that shoot not the model. Rochelle came up with the concept for this shoot, which was loosely based on a image she found of a model crouching in water, wearing bright colors and an Asian style hat.

This is the second part of the shoot I recently did with Yuki.  To finish up we decided to do an implied wet look shoot.

Hotness Part 1 - with Yuki

In the summer of 2014 Yuki and I had made plans to do a sexy style shoot based on FHM covers.  However, our calendars never aligned and the shoot was put off to this summer.  We finally got together a couple of weeks ago at whitespace studio and created something kind of hot.
We shot several different looks, two thirds of the shoot was the FHM inspired looks which appear in this blog post (part 1) and then the last third of the shoot we did a wet look style shoot which will be posted in the near future (part 2)

Beauty Shoot with Sophie

Maria and Sophie wanted to do a beauty shoot so Maria came up with the concept which had a bright and fun vibe similar to a teen magazine.   She then sourced all the clothes and accessories from online stores and was then responsible for styling the hair and doing the make-up.

The shoot was done at whitespace studio, the lighting was a standard beauty lighting with a 30.5" Mola beauty dish and 2x3 reflector.

Adolfo Sanchez Collection

I'd seen Adolfo's collection at the International Designers Fashion show and loved the dresses and wanted to shoot them.  A couple of nights later whilst shooting the Evolution Fashion Show (the main event of the Bermuda Fashion Show),  Anthony Wade informed me that he had been asked to shoot the collection early the next morning and asked me if I wanted to share the shoot with him.

2015 Swimsuit Series - #6 Novah Swimwear

I first saw the Novah swimwear brand on Instagram back in 2014.  I finally realised that the owner and designer was Bermudian, Madeline White.   I messaged Madeline and asked if I could loan some of her outfits for my 2015 swimsuit series.  Madeline, who lives in the UK, was back on the island as one of the designers featured in the Local Designers show of the Bermuda Fashion Festival .  
We arranged the shoot for the Wednesday after fashion week and decided to use models that had walked for the Novah collection and selected Sophie and Karina.

Crystal and Sydia - Fashion Shoot

As part of the Bermuda Fashion Festival there were several international models visiting the island.  Amir had told me that Crystal and Sydia, who are agency represented models from Jamaica, would be here and available for a shoot if I was interested.  Of course I was interested !!
The shoot took place on Friday morning, the girls were at Salon Pink for hair and make-up at 4.30am.  Pinky and Rinelle were styling the hair and Maria was doing the make-up.

Aminat - Fashion Shoot

The Bermuda Fashion Festival 2015 kicked off on Monday 6th with the Hair and Beauty show, but for me it started two days earlier with this shoot with celebrity model Aminat Ayinde.  Aminat is signed with Ice Models (SA) but is probably best known for her TV appearances in ANTM (cycle 12) and Project Runway All-stars (season 2).
A month before the shoot I had been chatting with  Amir X and he had mentioned that he was bringing to Bermuda several international models, one of whom was his good friend Aminat.  So I asked Amir if there was any chance he could hook me up with a shoot.  Fortunately for me, Aminat was coming to Bermuda earlier than all the other guest celebrities and had some free time.

2015 Swimsuit Series - #4 Brittney

If you follow my blog you will have noticed that I tend to do repeat shoots with more experienced models, but also like to mix in shoots with some new faces.  Generally when I choose to shoot a new face I consider their prior modeling experience and portfolio images.  This swimsuit shoot with Brittney was unusual in that she has no prior modeling experience whatsoever.  I decided to ask her for a shoot based entirely on her facebook pics taken by friends and family, which are quite gorgeous.

2015 Swimsuit Series - #3 Siairah

I've had a busy 10 days since my last blog post.  There was the Bermuda Fashion Festival with 4 shows and I also had shoots with some of the international models that were here for that week and also several local models too.  I didn't have time to edit any shoots until yesterday and now have quite a backlog that will keep me busy for the rest of July and beyond.   This shoot with Siairah was an early morning shoot that we did on Angle Beach which is just east of Horseshoe Beach.

Yaya Apparel with Riley and Karina

I've been wanting to shoot along Cemetery Road for quite a while, I thought that the Belco buildings and high wire fences would make for a cool backdrop for an urban wear shoot.  The urban wear I had in mind was Yaya Apparel by Omejae Goater.  Like most of the my recent fashion shoots,  I saw his collection at the Capital Fashion show earlier this year.  So I reached out to Omejae and asked if he still had any of the clothes from the show and whether I could borrow them for this shoot. 

Beauty Shoot with Riley

When discussing possible concepts for the shoot Riley had mentioned that she would like a beauty shoot similar to the wet look shoot that Maria and I did with Sophie Fraser Smith in January.

Maria also wanted to do a creative concept so she created an amazing head piece out of flowers picked from her backyard.

2015 Swimsuit Series - #2 Kayla McConnie

For this swimsuit shoot with Kayla we decided to give it more of a fashion magazine feel than the sexy sports illustrated inspired themes that I usually shoot.  This meant the poses needed to be less sensual and more exaggerated. 
For the lighting I chose to go with the long throw 11" reflector instead of the beauty dish with the intention to create some harder shadows thus giving it the edgier feel we needed
  

Chiffon and Tulle with Ashley (NSFW)

Ashley was coming back in Bermuda for Carnival Week so we planned to get together for a shoot.  The concept she wanted was a sexy semi-nude beach shoot with different colours of sheer fabric and a couple of statement necklaces.

It was shot at sunrise on a gorgeous day with mostly clear blue skies.  Maria did the make-up and also acted as lighting assistant too.

2015 Swimsuit Series - #1 Sophie Adams

This was my first swimsuit shoot of 2015 and what better way to start than with Sophie Adams.  Sophie has been in big demand since the start of this year and is the face of the 2015 Bermuda Fashion Festival, has been modeling for Nova Swimwear and also Designs by Alshante, to name a few.  Luckily for me one of my vacation (staycation) days fell on a day that Sophie was free to shoot.   

London's Calling - Sevuhn by Chineza (NSFW)

I saw Chineza's Sevuhn Collection whilst shooting the Capital fashion show in April.  Each designer was representing a Capital City and Chineza's designs were representing London.   I really liked all the outfits in her collection and asked if I could shoot some of them for this blog.  Chineza agreed, and we set about collaborating on what the shoot concept should be.  In the end we settled on a studio shoot that was going to have a sexy European flair.

Shaylee - Miss Bikini Fitness 2015

I've been wanting to do a shoot in a gym for a long time, so when I saw that Shaylee had recently won the Miss Bikini Fitness 2015 title, I messaged her and asked if she was interested in doing a shoot.  The concept was inspired by photographer, Pavel Ythjalla, who's images of female fitness models leans more towards fantasy and glamour much more than actual fitness. 

Sunday Sunrise with Sophie (NSFW)

Last week I saw on Facebook that Sophie was back in Bermuda and although my summer shoots were already fully booked my plans for Sunday morning had changed and I had a free morning.  I asked her if she wanted to shoot and whether she had any concepts and suitable clothing.  After a quick look through Pintrest she came back to me with some inspiration images, that were a combination of casual baggy tops and implied nudes, all on a beach location.  A simple concept that was easy to put together a short notice.

D'ezir - Designs by Desireé

Last  month whilst on a shoot with Desireé I found out that she, James and Chineza, were putting on their own fashion show and each of them, along with 3 other designers were presenting their own collections.  Each collection was based on a location, D'ezir was based on Africa.  You can see my images from the show on my Facebook Firetog page.  After the show I bumped into Desireé and asked if I could shoot the collection for the blog

Beauty Shoot with Abimbola

I recently saw Abimbola at the Bermuda Fashion show rehearsals and got in touch with her to see if she was interested in doing beauty shoot.   I asked Christopher Vee if he would like to do the make up and as it happens he had also seen a picture of Abimbola and was trying to find out who she was so that he could do a shoot with her.
The shoot was done at the new whitespace* studio (temporary location) and Traci from Stylzby Traci came and did the hair styling.

Face Painting with Asha

Last week I got together with Asha and Maria for a beauty shoot.  The concept was based on a style of shoot that I did many years ago with Alshante and that shoot was further based on an ANTM shoot.  Basically the concept was to create a beauty make up and then drip high gloss acrylic paint down the face.  It's quite difficult to control where the paint runs, how it blends and ultimately the end result.  It's also quite time consuming as a shower and complete reapplication of the make-up is required in between each set.  We only had time for 2 sets.

Maxene - Beauty Make-up by Afroditi

After seeing numerous gorgeous selfies by Maxene I asked her if she would be interested in doing a beauty shoot.   Afroditi agreed to do the make-up.  The concept was simple, I wanted a classic beauty shoot and then to change it up with something abstract and crazy of her choosing.

We did the shoot at whitespace* studio which is in the process of moving to a new location in town.

Last week Karen asked for a nude shoot and as luck would have it, I had already booked the studio (whitespace*) on Sunday for a beauty shoot .   As the beauty make-up was going to take about an hour or so I had some spare time so offered to do a really quick shoot instead of just sitting around waiting.   Karen supplied me with some inspiration images and I then Googled some additional implied nude poses that she could try.

Paper Couture by Chineza

This weekend I got the opportunity to shoot a collection of dresses that are made from recycled newspapers and encyclopedias.   The dresses were made by aspiring local designer Chineza Augustus.   We needed a cool location for the shoot and Newstead kindly allowed us to use their pool area.  Thankfully the weather cooperated and the high winds that were forecast never occurred

When I asked Chloe if she wanted to shoot, she said that a she wanted a topless shoot and if it could include smoking that would be really cool too.  The shoot was to be sexy and edgy but not provocative.  We considered several location ideas but in the end settled for a simple white wall and simple clothing.

Sophie's Portrait Shoot - Part 2

This is the second part of the portrait shoot that I did with Sophie last month.  As mentioned in the previous post the main concept for the shoot was a series of implied nude images with wet hair.  The vast majority of the images in this post follow that concept, however there are some additional images at the end that were created afterward from when we were just messing around with ideas and some fabric.

Sophie's Portrait Shoot - Part 1

This is my first (and so far only) shoot of 2015.  Sophie was back in Bermuda for the Christmas holidays and New Year so we arranged to shoot.  We really didn't have a big concept in mind other than it was going to be a portrait session.  Sophie gave me some inspiration images of models with wet hair, so we used those for part of the shoot.  Actually, those images will be in part 2 as they were shot last.  For the first part of the shoot we decided to keep it light hearted and went with expressions and poses that were fun, cute and expressive.

Savannah - Egyptian Inspired Beauty Shoot

This is the second part of the shoot that I did with Savannah over Christmas.  Savannah had asked if we could also shoot some beauty shots so we did a quick make up change based on a Cleopatra look and knocked off a few images before wrapping up the shoot.

Since 2013 I have been working very closely with a consultancy company based in India.  Krishna,  the owner of the company heard about my blog and had a sari handmade for me.  Its been quite a while since I received the sari and I've been waiting for the right model who wanted to shoot it.  When Savannah asked for a shoot over the Christmas break I suggested the sari as the concept.  I was unaware at the time that Savannah has Indian heritage (her grand parents on one side).  She also owns her own sari, so we decided to include that in the shoot too.
